its our last night together tonight (well for a while anyway!) don't forget, veils, sparkles and cheques for next term!! also nibbles for our "do". I shall be heading home in a while to put the warpaint on.....see you there!

here is the choreography for Byrchall and Lowton classes:

Ever so Lonely ....Jakatta( ministry of sound mix)

Start with back to audience, holding veil behind back.
Bring right arm up (8) and down (4)
Bring left arm up (8) and down (4)
Veil spins to front with pause x 4
Forward and back steps x 5 turning on 6
Forward and back steps x 6 until in line (no turn)

NOW FACING FORWARD
Repeat arms with a gentle bounce of corresponding hip
Repeat veil spins and throw veil away to side at finish.

Following music..4 x hand twirls
Weight to left hip, hand to heart
Huge hip circle, come up on left side, hands caressing hair etc.

Arabesque shimmies..R.L.R.L.
Forwards and back x 5 turning on 6
Forwards and back x 1 turning on 2 x 3 (ending up facing forward)

Side to side steps x 16 arms coming up
Hip drops ( D.U.D.U.U.D) x 4 (right then left)
Turn and walk off with step together step until end of music

hopefully you are reading this in class on Tuesday...tech permitting!!

tonights learning outcomes are:

by the end of the session the learner will:

Know the health and safety issues of the centre and the room.
Have recapped the basics of isolation technique and be able to demonstrate a chest and hip circle.
Have begun to learn the basics of veil techniques and be able to demonstrate a veil spin.
Be able to follow the tutor in a basic group dance.

HAFLA!!

the Lowton Hafla went very well on Sunday, all the performers did a great job. Our class were fantastic and all looked amazing! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

At Byrchall class tonight.....a chance to flex your choreography muscles....using the moves we have already learned I want you to make your own versions of the sequence we did last week. I'll be splitting you into small groups and you will show the group what you have come up with...the sequences will run together to create a new dance...It's going to be good!!!

1st night at Byrchall!

The 1st night at Byrchall went very well...once we found the room!!! I think we got to know each other a little and got some of the paperwork under our belts!

Don't forget to pratice your slinky walks (in tesco) and roll your shoulders back when you are stood up...it will make the world easier to face!

Remember.......when you feeling down.........stick the radio on and have a shimmy!!

new class tonight!!

I'm very excited about the new class at Byrchall School tonight! I have 12 new learners and I hope they are raring to go!! We shall be learning the joys of the Shimmy tonight (amongst other things) and I imagine that all 12 will be shimmying their way through the week...its very addictive!

Hafla performance

Thursday class went very well and the choreography is pollishing up nicely!! We had a chat about costuming and have decided that we will all wear full skirts (not black please) and a matching top with a black vest top underneath, a "jingly" belt will finish off the costume and a flower as usual for our hair. Please have a think about what you have and what you will need to aquire (buy or borrow). If you have anything spare please offer it to the new ladies... I will bring all my extras!!
if you fancy a new costume please go along to Urban Dervish in Eccles (details in "helpful hints" column). Or save your pennies for the Whirling Dervish Bazaar at the hafla!!

New Byrchall Class.

Enrolment went very well at Brychall School last night and I have 12 newbies ready to shimmy the night away next Monday!

Thursday Class.

Back on track at the Catholic Club tonight ladies!! after missing 2 weeks we have some catching up to do....we shall get the choreography sorted then we can start pollishing for the Hafla!!
